In COVID Crisis, This Is How Shriyans’ Greensole Is Providing 200,000 Footwear Annually To The Underprivileged Community

It is extremely saddening that COVID crisis has put a halt on the business sector. People are striving each day to suffice their basic needs and here’s Shriyans Bhandari, who’s still keeping up the good work with his venture Greensole- an environment-friendly enterprise, that decided to be a provider to the less fortunate. His initiative is not just about providing footwear to the less fortunate, but also saving the environment by recycling footwear.

All About Greensole

Greensole, founded in 2016 is an initiative that recycles old footwear and provides them to the less fortunate. “I witnessed the urgency of Greensole when I learned about the number of deaths happening due to being bare feet. That hit me hard and since then, I decided to bring about a revolution in the lives of underprivileged by providing them with footwear.” Said Shriyans in an interview with Kenfolios.

The major chunk of revenue comes from several brands like ONGC, Bharat Petroleum, HDFC, and Adidas who assign a budget for us under their CSR activities. Also, Greensole does online sales which add up to the revenue.

Surviving The COVID Crisis

The times are extremely tough and it’s a battle that we collectively need to fight against the virus. While most Indian families are facing issues like unemployment and poverty, Shriyans still managed to avoid salary deduction, because even in lockdown, Greensole managed to make a sale of 200,000 footwear this year. Greensole also aims at helping the population in the rural parts of India. A skill center of Greensole is recently launched in Jharkhand, which is generating an immense amount of employment. Shriyans has also ventured into the education sector with Heritage Girls School, Updaipur. It is a way of giving it back to society according to him. Greensole is soon venturing into recycling apparels too, by which they can also cover the bodies of underprivileged along with their feet.

When asked about the secret mantra that he believes in, Shriyans said, “One shouldn’t be too fixated before starting a business, no need to be strict with the timeline goals. When we started, we faced tough times and none of it was working out in our favor. But, as they say, ‘This too shall pass’…be it anything and that has helped me be patient and finally, things worked out well. So you should give yourself time, rather than quitting after a few setbacks.”
